Tab for Google+ Pro App Reviews

Problems!

when the tab is clicked the window that pops down is often offscreen, and if I go to the mobile version it is too long and agian goes off screen. On top of that, and I cant figure out why, it I have the tab active in my menu bar and then open safari a blank window for google music or some other google pops up

This is good and useful, but

STOP ASKING ME TO INVITE MY FREINDS. Five or six times a day. Now, this may be part of google, but I have turned it off in google, but this still asks me. STOP.

Same Developer, Inconsistent

The same developer created the Facebook Tab app for Mac which is actually really good. However the G+ app doesnt have the same Preferences options (why not, its the same developer!?) Also, my biggest complaint with all of these apps is: 1) Not a "normal Mac App" interface: a) Cannot access preferences the same way as *every* other Mac App using COMMAND + , b) Not shown in the dock, therefore I cannot limit the app to specific Desktops. c) Cannot resize the window (this is basic app building 101) 2) Small issue: the icon in the Menu Bar looks….fuzzy? Which is weird because the Facebook Tab app icon looks great!

Almost perfect.

Most of the work is done by googles mobile and desktop views. I personally enjoy the mobile view and an not so obtrusive tab. The only issue is that it does not background poll and growl-notify you when there is new content.

Disappointing but had promise

I am disappointed in this app. It continues to attempt connections to doubleclick for invassive cookie tracking and continues to mix cookies with my Safari browser which is not acceptable security for me. Beware those that prefer not to have what news article they read, what email they send, or other things tracked by big brother.

Horrible app, incredibly buggy. Free versions are better.

I would prefer to get a refund than to leave a negative review, but I dont see a way to get a refund. Every time I hit any navigation in this app it takes me OUT of the app into google Chrome where it opens a new tab into "Google Play" for absolutely no apparent reason. The main reason I bought this was that I needed to use the Huddle Messenger… but there is no option for the group messenger in this app. Buggy, awkwardly laid out…. this app it terrible and I want my money back. I ended up downloading "Social For Google+" for FREE, and while it didnt have the Group Messenger (Huddle) option either, it works much better.

Problem I have

Nice Minimialist App for +. One day it will be the icing on the cake if it allowed video chat though.

Works Well But Window Management is Annoying

Stable, works like the web version, but has a couple of oddities. Most annoying, someone made a design decision to prevent your mousedown from being able to grab the window at the top. You can only grab the window at the very bottom. Doesnt sound like a problem, but its a pain. Some of your familiar tools arent working here yet, in particular theres no way for 1Password to nicely fill in your uname and pword for you. No biggie, minor. Otherwise, the Circles layout is nice, and its so close to the web version that no instructions are needed.

Does not show G+ notifications in ML

App does not show G+ notifications even though it is running in tab bar.

No Notifications

All is good in this app. I can access everything of google+ and it is very convenient to use. I also own Menutab pro for facebook and that gives me notifications if anyone sends me a message or mentions me in a comment, etc. Google+ tab does nothing like that and i often miss out on important messages and notifications cause it doesnt remind me. Please incorporate this featuee in the next update. Its very important for any user.

A few minor negatives, but way more positives.

First the one negative I find worth writing about. The notification Icon scrolls away in this app, rather than staying with you, as the web page does. So if you wish to check it, you have to scroll all the way back to the top. Not the end of the world, but annoing enough to cost it that fifth star. The reason I do like this app so much is the fact that it fixes the biggest annoyance I find with G+ on the web. That is the rolling and jumping around it does, each time someone posts in your stream. Makes it impossible to read anything during active times, on the web. Using the app, the only thing that happens when you get new posts in your stream is that the scroll bar flashes. No having your stream jumping around every half-second, while our trying to get through coments on a post, or watch a video in-stream. Honestly, finding this app, and the fact it fixes this glaring problem with G+, is the main reason I still use the service. I was ready to give up with it, when I discovered this. Thanks guys, for a good experience, mostly. If you fix those few little things, I think youll have a real winner.

Works pretty well

There is no notification when the main window is closed but the app still does what I wanted it to do - have google+ open without having to have a webpage up all the time. I can check it whenever I want and my google is active for people to leave me messages. It is just what I was looking for, a convenient way to communicate while working on the computer without interferring with what Im working on.

s good

Its nice to rock right into Google+ from the top bar.

Easy to read, good to follow

I decided to install this because it seemed that my usage of Google+ was increasing, and I needed something to be able to look at it during the day. Well, it has turned out to be a worthwhile acquisition. There are few things in life that garner that praise from me, and this is one of them. I trust that those of you who use G+ will see the benefit in using this app. I am firmly of the belief that anyone who likes to post, or quickly view their status, or look at the various posts that come to their feed, will love this app. I highly recommend it.

Go Pro

Not having the pro version is a non starter. Given the additional features of Communities, Local, Hangouts, Pages, etc., its a must have. I would appreciate a little bit better functionality on moving / resizing the window as well as a keyboard command to call it.

Another gem from FIPLAB

I have two of FIPLABs menu bar apps and I love them, but I was skeptical about Tab for Google+ Pro. That skepticism didnt last long…as soon as I installed it I was immediately a huge fan. The app is so much faster loading than waiting on Google+ to open in a browser and its always available in your menu bar. Thanks for another great app, FIPLAB!

yes

on my tip of my finger and great the only wish is at start up it put the icon n the top tool bar but it works great

Works Good, I Want More

Im a huge fan of avoiding the web browser if at all possible. I use FibLabs other social apps for Facebook and Pintrest. The other apps (Facebook and Pintrest) do a pretty good job of emmulating their iOS mobile counterparts. The Google+ app works great in the desktop mode but the mobile mode is absulutly nothing like the excellent Google+ mobile app. Not sure where the blame lies, the developer or Google. Ether way, it made my experience with this app not as good as it could have been. Hopefully improvments will come.

Questionably Useful

Slow. Kludgy. No alerts when I get a message. Never keeps me logged in. Crashes frequently. Is just an HTML browser to G+ from my menu. Maybe thats all you want. Maybe you were thinking, "Gosh! I cant stand having G+ in a tab in Safari/Firefox/Chrome. I want it to be semi-accessable from a drop down menu that takes a bit of time to render and makes me log in all the time!" Then this is your utility. To be fair, Google hasnt opened up their API to devs so that we can have nifty clients like can (used to) be found for Twitter, but this app doesnt do much more than place a web browser in your menubar.

Whats the big deal?

It doesnt notify. No badge, no sound. Seems like a pretty basic thing. What is the point otherwise?
